Project 01 / Collection photography

Monet's Water Lilies, photographed in situ

A campaign image shot in the gallery, because the painting couldn't come to the studio.

Problem

Monet to Matisse needed a high-resolution image of Water Lilies for its campaign. For conservation reasons, the work couldn't be moved to the studio.

What I did

I photographed it where it hung, lighting it with Bowens 1000W studio heads and capturing on a Phase One IQ4. [One line on how glare, reflections or ambient light were controlled.]

Result

The image ran at full resolution on the Gallery's facade banners, on Adelaide trams and at Adelaide Airport.
